Elecnor entered the Australian Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) market in 2021 by securing the Queanbeyan BESS project. The 10MW/20MWh project provided Elecnor with experience in the Australian market, which we believe will allow us to complete more projects in the future. We currently have a pipeline of 500MW of BESS projects in Australia.
Blyth BESS is a 200MW / 400 MWh battery energy storage project with a short transmission line into an Electranet substation. Elecnor is the principal contractor in partnership with NHOA Energy and Neoen. This project shows Elecnor Australia’s capability as a leading EPC and BOP contractor in the Australian BESS market. This project is legally connected to a wind farm being built by Elecnor and GE with Neoen as the principal called Goyder south, together these projects will provide a 70MW renewable baseload to Olympic Dam operated by BHP.
